Tumblr is where I found out you could be nonbinary. It wasn’t too long after that that I realized nonbinary was me. I wish I’d found your channel before today. It would have been sweet to have followed your journey while living my own. I’m looking forward to watching through the lovely hours of you being this kind and earnest person about so many topics. I took my first dose of T this week, and my PCP says she’ll let me have top surgery after I’ve spent three months on my new biologic medication. I’m chronically ill and disabled, so for a while there I thought I might just have to suffer through with H/I cup breasts suffocating me forever. I’m looking forward to life a surprising amount more, and looking forward to experiencing some trans joy in this train wreck of a body. Maybe me and my body can still be friends, even now. Thank you for this beautiful retrospective, and the love and compassion you’re able to show your younger self. There was something very healing about seeing that.

Took my first dose of T this week. It was quite easy for me to access once I specifically told my therapist that I wanted to do that. She’d been seeing me for almost a year, and I’ve known I was nonbinary for at least five years. I’ve already had all the kids it would be wise of me to physically have (I and they and my partner are chronically ill), have had top dysphoria for decades, and have been seen by practically every doctor specialty under the sun (again, chronic illness). Estrogen actually negatively impacts several of my health issues, including a connective tissue disorder and adenomyosis, and I’ve had blood clots in my lungs and brain. Testosterone actually has several protective factors for me, including building muscle (the only thing holding me together properly) and helping with chronic anemia and hypovolemia. Handy that I’m nonbinary, I guess! I got T prescribed at my first appointment, but initially as a compounded substance, which insurance wouldn’t cover, and then as an injection which required a prior authorization. The gender clinic that prescribed it, Queer Med, was very helpful and made sure I knew all the possible effects. They have been working with my therapist for years, and trusted her to have been thorough with her analysis. The fact that I am almost forty probably also helped with the speed of them feeling ok with the prescription.

I don’t mean this in a rude way at all, but i think your projecting your recent hurt and pain onto this situation because it reminds you of your situation. Tyler isn’t “hooking” jerrob even based on the examples you gave. The point of “hooking” is the idea that what the person says IMPLIES that there’s a possible future they will get together. Tyler never said anything that implied hope, the only thing he did was find away to not say no while also implying he’s not interested, which to me are two very different things. it’s not tyler giving jerrob hope, it’s jerrob not being able to take a rejection that isn’t flat out. Also i agree and disagree when you say tyler knows what he’s doing. You imply tyler is playing coy and knows jerrob wants to hear a no, but won’t do it because he likes the gratification of having jerrob like him. I agree tyler is playing coy to a degree but i think the only reason he’s doing that, and he even says, it is because he’s so afraid that a flat out no will break their friendship, i think it’s him being anxious rather than manipulative. i do think tyler was mean, but i don’t think his intention is to mess with jerrob or not take him seriously (witch i feel you also might be projecting on) i think again because he’s anxious he’s trying to joke with him how he always jokes and try to flee from this serious situation he doesn’t want to be in. again because he’s worried it’s going to ruin their friendship. im not saying jerrob is bad here by any means, i think both of their actions and reactions are valid. but lastly i do feel it was wrong of jerrob to try and extract an answer out of tyler by putting a camera in his face in front of people. he should have had a private conversation with him instead.

A lot of people came here, not interested in hearing you out. I’ll put it this way: the queer community can be incredibly superficial. Someone like Troye doesn’t relate to someone like Lizzo for several reasons. Is Troye wrong for not including body diverse people? Honestly, yes and no. It’s true, it’s not his responsibility. Yet, we can clearly see that the only body types in the video are skinny, or body builders…it’s fairly obviously shallow, but I also don’t know how intentional it is. Was it actually Troye’s fault? Who knows. Music videos have directors, and I’m certain someone decides who’s cast in it, but those could’ve been influence by Troye as well. I love Troye, but it somewhat goes without saying that he’s in the toxic side of the community. Even if he’s sensitive to other’s issues, he doesn’t ask the questions needed to really understand any deeper than surface value. I don’t agree with people in these comments saying “victim mentality” when this videos creator obviously just wanted to discuss why this type of content is insensitive and typecast with discrimination.

One thing to keep in mind for all trans men: If a cis person can do it, you can do it. There are men who wear dresses regulalry like Frederic Chen, and there are men who dress up in drag for a living. If a cis man can express femininity and still be a man, so can you. Do not let people set limits for you that cis men don't have, because at the end of the day you are a man and you should be treated as such.

Damn I've been on testosterone for more than 10 years, and it's true!! When I got my FULL hysterectomy, I had a widdle atrophy moment-- but my doctor prescribed me medication that I only had to take for a week that fixed it. Anybody, cis trans or otherwise, WILL encounter problems with their body!!! That's why doctors help us!!

i had somewhat of a similar situation happen to me and hearing your story made me think that i will be alright too eventually.

i'm a trans guy who never really watched any of Kalvin's videos before he started getting called out, and i'm just shocked at how someone was able to spread so much hatred and vitriol for people he had no right judging and assuming things of. thank you for sharing your story. it's unfortunate that even today in 2024, we as the trans community still have to have this same conversation and fight tooth and nail just to be recognised even a little bit as authentically ourselves. i hope that changes for good one day.

Re throat/voice issues - one thing I *actually* haven't seen people talk about that can be a thing is how binding can trigger/exacerbate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD/GORD), which is essentially chronic heartburn and can sometimes manifest as a constantly sore throat. So maybe she just needs to take some antacids.

You say it took you months to get on T. You absolutely discount the fact she said she was 15. Can't you remember how radically you changed from 13 to 15, from 15 to 18, from 18 to 20, etc...? Also, I've heard more than a few other trans-gender people on RUclips say they walked into a Dr's practice, asked for hormones and had a prescription in the hot little hands in under 30 minutes. (It was one of those Jubilee debates with a trans panel and from memory over half had a very similar experience. I'm only a few minutes in and you said you respect detransitioners... She was 15 and you're carrying on about her saying she was 'placed' on testosterone. Of course she asked for it... But she was 15! If a 15 year old asked you for alcohol would you give it to them? (I realise it's not the perfect analogy, but you understand what I mean) I rarely see genuine compassion and understanding for detransitioners from the trans community. It appears that you see them as a threat, as bad PR for your community... It's about your ego and feelings rather than the person who most probably got lots of community support when they started transitioning and taking T. Yet so often when they're detransition, they're shunned. Now what other groups practice shunning? 🚩👀 Even if you don't like the particular wording of phrasing she uses, try to set an example of kindness and compassion even if you don't always understand or agree. I can't keep watching you put down a woman who is really struggling. I don't like your bully vibes. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. Im out. Take care.

i watched his content to help solidify the hate i was hearing in my community around me and keep myself repressed. i internalized so much transphobia and queerphobia from his bullying to creators i know realize i related to so much. it took 5 years for me to come out after finding his content.

I recently brought up to my doctor that I was considering going on T, and while she was perfectly supportive, the first thing she did was hand me an unofficial copy of the type of waiver I would have to sign, which was comprised almost entirely of every potential risk and side effect imaginable. She then told me it would take at least a year-long process of testing and talking to various doctors before I could go on T. They will literally hand you warnings before you even begin starting the journey. I'm pretty sure that's the NORM. Part of it involves blood testing so that they can be aware of every possible risk you can have as an individual. These mfs are RIGOROUS. I'm also am glad they gave me a few warnings before I could even try to start the process because now I have one or two extra risks to consider, even if I still want to go through with it. It'll still probably be years before I do, though.

I don't know if this is comparable, but this feels like telling someone with depression that they shouldn't go on meds because depression meds made me want to leave this world when it's an unfortunate side effect that can be mananged by your doctor.

I first went to to the sexuologist to start my transition at 2021. And I was only allowed to start hrt at the end of last month. Where I live is it not the easiest to transition and because I am also mentaly ill it took also longer for me to get hormones. I had to tell my sexuologist that I wanted hrt and get papers fom my psychiatrist, psychologist and other blood check ups. No one was hidding from me the dide effects and other things regarding my transition. I did my research.

oh god i remember watching his video about you. i dont remember when exactly. it most likely was when i was questioning whether i was trans or not and needed to research and gather opinions.. i genuinely dont remember what impact it had on me, but i do remember thinking unkind things about you, and i am genuinely so so sorry for that. i was young, maybe 13 or 14 at the time. deeply uncomfortable with myself and got bullied often. but i am so sorry that this happened to you, and im also sorry for thinking badly of you when i didnt know the full story.
